No [AP test] born of woman will defeat thee!

Scholars, please do the following this weekend:

1 - read carefully your Mongo Review Sheet.  Mark any and all questions that you would like to ask me.

2 - begin to plant firmly in your mind a list of potential sources for your persuasive and synthesis essays.  Learn salient details about these sources.

3 - get some sleep!  The last set of multiple choice questions was difficult, I think, because most of you were too sleepy after pulling all nighters in order to complete the APUSH packet (that apparently you were assigned quite some time ago - sorry - I just couldn't help myself).  Help your brain reach its potential by sleeping.

Monday, you will write a rhetorical analysis;

Tuesday, we will review multiple choice answers and essays as well; good day to ask questions;

Wednesday, you will write a rhetorical analysis.

I will be in my room every day at lunch and every day after school to field any questions that you may have.  Also, please feel free to e-mail me or call me at home if you need help.

Have a glorious weekend!

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Have you had a tax[ks]ing day?

Today and tomorrow, we will review the "Flamingo" prompt.  You also will receive a looooong review sheet for the AP test.

Friday afternoon, we will review the rhetorical analysis question.

This weekend, please review the sheet that I gave you, start memorizing your potential sources for the persuasive essay and the synthesis, and rest, if you can.

Monday, we will ... write a ... rhetorical analysis!

Love and kisses,

Ms. Seward

Out, damned spot, out!

Today we read Macbeth, and you all submitted your annotations for my reading pleasure.

Tomorrow and Friday, we will review rhetorical analyses and talk about a little test that you will take on May 11th.

Have a good TAKS test tomorrow!

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Silly me!

Scholars, first of all, if you missed yesterday, you need to make up a m/c test.

However, since you are TAKS testing the rest of the week, why don't you make up this test next week?  Otherwise, I am afraid that you will be too rushed.

In first period today, I asked you to come in tomorrow, but that will not be enough time for you.  So sorry!  Wait until next week!

Today and tomorrow (even classes) we will finish Macbeth (at least for a while), and you will turn in your annotations.

Thursday (odd) and Friday (odd), we will discuss AP writing.

Friday afternoon, we will have a review session on the rhetorical analysis.

See you soon!

Peeling the Layers off an Onion

Scholars,

Today you confirmed your six week grade in an individual conference with me.

And, just when you thought that it couldn't get any better, you then read and analyzed (rhetorically) a piece from the Onion.

Then ... you began writing a rhetorical analysis.

Tomorrow, some of you will take the SAT.  Morning classes - if you are not taking the SAT, please report to Coach Hopson in the auditorium.  Read a novel, read Macbeth, do something enlightening, but DO NOT irritate Coach Hopson.  (I feel sure that you will not.)   Tomorrow afternoon, we will focus on AP essay writing.

Thursday Act I of Macbeth is due.  I suspect that reading and acting Macbeth will be a splendid experience for us all.

Friday?   Hmmmmmmm

Monday, April 11, 2011

Those *&%$# Cyclists!

Scholars, today you wrote a rhetorical analysis.

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Too little, too late?

Scholars, it just occurred to my feeble brain that I had not written in our blog on Friday.

Tomorrow, you will write a rhetorical analysis;

Tuesday, I believe that we will review said analysis and practice for the SAT (Please note that I have changed the due date for Macbeth);

Wednesday - SAT - sixth and seventh will do something so fabulous that the other classes will be jealous, consumed by the green-eyed monster;

Thursday Act one of Macbeth!

You have about five hours of weekend left - enjoy!

P.S.  In what Shakespearean play did the phrase "green-eyed monster" originate?  (hint - It ain't no Scottish tragedy like Macbeth.)

Thursday, April 7, 2011
