Today periods 1, 2, 7, & 8 took a test - vocabulary, compound sentences, and TAKS essay/story. Tomorrow periods 7 & 8n will finish this test.
Tomorrow, periods 4 & 5 will take a test over the last chapters and epilogue of Into the Wild. As we will probably have an assembly during this time, the test will not include vocabulary.
Happy Reading!

Early Dismissal!
Today we had a quick class, all classes, and we all did the same thing!
We reviewed for the test tomorrow (periods 1, 2, 7, & 8). All that you need to do is to learn all of the vocabulary words and to know how to write compound sentences. Good luck and have fun with all that learning.
Periods 4 & 5 will have a test on Friday. Because I just discovered that we must have an assembly on Friday, periods four and five will have a test on the last chapters of Into the Wild. No vocabulary this time.
Question of the day: Is truth more important than money? Than fame? Than love? Who knows?

Hello, smart students!
Please peruse the following what what happened in class today:
Fourth and Fifth Periods learned briefly the meanings of ethos, pathos, and logos, the classical rhetorical appeals. You also took a quote quiz through chapter 15 of Into the Wild. You then wrote an essay arguing, defending, and qualifying the following quote:
"Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me the truth." Henry David Thoreau.
You also received Progress Reports, which you will return to me tomorrow parentally signed with a phone number where I can reach your parental unit.
Speaking of tomorrow, you will review PSAT passages. We will have a test on Friday, which will consist of a few PSAT passages and a few questions on the end of Into the Wild.
Seventh and Eighth Periods reviewed vocabulary, read short stories ("The Other Pin" (7th period) and "Angus Bethune" (8th period)) and wrote on the same topic as did the morning classes - is truth the most important virtue or aspect of life, or is something else (fame, money, love) more important?
I will receive make-up work until 2:00 tomorrow afternoon.
