Happy Birthday, Ms. Dike!

Ninth graders wrote a page on the following prompt:  why is it sometimes true that we hurt the ones we love?  You have homework due Friday, which is a sentence or a story with each of the following vocabulary words:  imminent, infallible, doggedness, reiterate, precariously, exotic, evanesced, heresy.

We also started reading a story "The Scarlet Ibis," and we answered two SARs on that story.

We have a test on SARs tomorrow.

Juniors wrote a page on why patience may sometimes be a bad thing.  You also took an AP-style, multiple choice test on "A Modest Proposal" and passages from Angela's AshesIf you did not take this test, you must make it up by the end of the day on Thursday.

For Thursday, read pages 176 and 177 of "Letter from Birmingham Jail" aloud to yourself FIVE times.  After the readings, then annotate those pages for the following:  alliteration, metaphors, repetition, parallel structure, and imagery.  Once you identify these devices link them to a thematic element or meaning.

Read and annotate through page 150 for Friday.

Satires are due January 30th.

Have a beautiful day!
