Homework for Friday, February 7, 2014
We all have read the first part of “The Scarlet Ibis,” which we will finish after we take our DLA assessment this week.
However, before we finish the story, I would like you to finish it in your own way.  Therefore, for your homework due at the first of the class on Friday, please write one of the following:
The beginning of the story from Doodle’s point of view – for example, how does Doodle feel as he lies on the rubber sheet with his family thinking that he may not be “all there”?
A different twist to the story – what if the narrator had become impatient and had gone ahead and smothered Doodle with a pillow?
A continuation of the story – what will happen as the narrator makes that go-cart careen with Doodle in it?
A comic strip of the story so far – draw ten panels with captions (each caption should be at least two complete sentences in length) to inform your reader what has happened in the story so far.

Unless you decide to create the comic strip, your homework must be at least 300 words in length.  Please see me before Friday if you need any help with this assignment.  Remember the acronym S (speech), T (thought), E (effects on others), A (actions), and L (looks) when you describe your characters.
