Hello, Great Students!
AP Students did the following today:
- Composed a warm-up, namely a paragraph using the following words in context: forlorn; defiant; pedantic; and decorum;
- Submitted and discussed their fieldwork on Tannen's "There is No Unmarked Woman";
- Completed the AP-style M/C questions on Tannen's article;
- Learned about analogies by perusing the following link: http://literarydevices.net/analogy/
- Learned about oxymorons by perusing the following link: http://literarydevices.net/oxymoron/
- Learned about syllogisms by listening to ... me
Now please do the following:
- Tonight please watch at least a portion of President Obama's speech; and
- Begin to write your vocabulary story (due Friday), if you have not yet started.
The first person from each class to post an original syllogism on the inside of my classroom door will receive ten (10) points on Friday's vocabulary homework. The syllogism must be original, school appropriate, and a fine specimen of classical deductive reasoning.
Thanks to Dylan Black for being such a good sport today, and note to third period - the shirt I wore today is 25 years old! (Older than you!)
Seventh period had a great class today. We studied for your vocabulary test tomorrow and read Rats Saw God. Love the new seating arrangement and all of you. Please study tonight!!!!
See you tomorrow!
