FRIDAY!!!!!

AP studs wrote a tiny rhetorical analysis today as follows:

Rhetorical Analysis – Short and Sweet

Text to be Analyzed

1.       “Lucy, time to get up to go run.  I know that your back is hurting and that you don’t want to go.  However, your back will feel so much better after we run.”

Analysis

Ernie Seward wants his wife, Lucy, to join him for a run.  He must use logos, namely cause and effect, to encourage her, so he claims that her back will feel “so much better” after running.  Lucy Seward knows this to be true; this logic is irrefutable and encourages her to get up, which provides Ernie Seward with the companionship he seeks.

Text to be Analyzed

2.       “I need to bring Jags home for Christmas. He’s kennel trained (mostly).  I have already arranged for Henry to take care of him while I’m in San Diego.  I am going to pay him and everything.  Remember that being able to bring Jags home was one of the items on my Christmas list?”

You write the Analysis

Purpose, embed and explain a quote, audience effect, tie it back to the purpose

Highlight the purpose and the effect on the audience
FYI, my daughter’s name is Emma.

You then took your LAST quote test on The Handmaid's Tale

Seventh period reviewed a bit of vocabulary, read the Indian book, and watched the Crucible.
