Friday

Today you all (except for fourth period) wrote in response to the following prompt:

Are there bad or evil people in the world?  Are certain people truly evil or do certain people just commit bad acts when they are consumed by an evil impulse?  Are there certain people who are powerless to control their own evil impulses?  Support your conclusion with information from In Cold Blood or from other outside sources.

You then took a 15 question, AP-style, multiple choice test.  We will review the answers Monday.  These are difficult tests.  Please recall Dr. Jolliffe's quote:  "AP Language is designed to encourage to embrace complexity without freaking out."

If you missed class today, please write a page on the foregoing topic and give it to me on Monday.  You may also make up your test next week; we will give you another multiple choice passage.

You will write a timed writing persuasive essay on Monday.  Please bring a black or blue ink pen.
Wednesday you will have a quote quiz through page 302 of In Cold Blood.
Thursday your annotations through page 302 are due.

Monday, February 16, your outside source assignment is due.  Start it NOW!

Be safe and good this weekend!

P.S.  Who would like to explain the Myth of Sisyphus to your class on Tuesday, February 10th?  Please e-mail if you are interested.  You would need to talk for only a few minutes, and I will give you five extra points.
